The Skin Shape Club is conveniently located at Orchard Central and I was welcomed to a small, unassuming yet cozy outlet. The Skin Shape Club differentiates itself from other beauty and wellness places by providing a holistic experience for their customers as a "club". Besides their usual treatments, they take good care of their customers with a resting lounge and serve food after treatment. Will move more onto that later.
On my first visit, their friendly beautician go through my particulars, stats and body/skin issues I have so that they can recommend suitable treatments for me. Lucky for me, I'm in the healthy weight range and have a body age of an 19 years old. =D
Still, our metabolism rate tends to deteriorates as we grow older and our skin will also go downhill from age 25 onwards if we do not take good care of it. Skin conditions that worry me include pigmentation/freckles, dark eye circles, eye bags and uneven skin tones. To address these issues, I was introduced to the Skin Shaper Facial.
What is Skin Shaper Facial?
LHE is different from laser or IPL treatment, which have higher energy fluency. Which is why, if you have tried laser or IPL, you usually experience prickly sensations on your skin or having scabs due to burnt skin. Cooling gel is required to be applied on your skin during the process as well to minimise the burning as well.

What does this mean to a consumer?
This means A LOT for a consumer to choose the right treatment for your skin! Because this is less invasive in that sense, it is much more suitable for those who are unable to take laser, IPL or has a super low threshold for pain due to its gentle yet result-oriented treatment.
LHE technology is suitable for:
- people with sensitive skin
- people with most skin types and skin tones
- people with dark eye circles/eye bags issues
I am a total digger for IPL for its ability to remove hair semi-permenantly on all parts of my body as well as whiten darken, patchy skins like around the armpits area. I never know IPL is not suitable for dark-skinned people until I found out about LHE here. So this technology is awesome like that! However those with very dark-skinned tones would need to be consulted before proceeding with the treatment so that the beauticians can adjust the treatment settings accordingly for safe and better results.
Process of the Skin Shaper Facial
This facial takes between 30 mins to an hour which is great for a working person like me where I can use my lunchtime to relax and rejuvenate before heading back to work. I always go with full make-up on, and their beautician was really very gentle in removing my made-up face every single time. My face was then cleansed and exfoliate to remove all impurities and dead skin cells for better penetration of the LHE. I could honestly fall asleep during the first 5 mins when the facial have not even started. Oh, and did I mention that their bed is warm with a thick comforter used to envelope my body, making me all comfy and fuzzy and ready to go to dreamland.
The LHE applicator will then be placed on the different parts of the face where pulses of light is administered. I felt heat sensations but no pain at all. It was a little scary at the beginning because unlike IPL when a goggle will be given to cover your eyes, there is none for LHE procedure. So although it is not painful, I can see flashes of light during the process. This is because the LHE is used closed to my eye areas as well to treat my dark eye circles and eye bags, hence not possible to wear a goggles. This is also why LHE is awesome because IPL will be too strong to be done near the eye area! There is a little discomfort to the eyes during this process as well, may be because my eyes are a little more sensitive and started to tear after a few shots were applied.
The Skin Shape Club is also very generous with their LHE treatment. Unlike most IPL or light treatments where you pay a certain amount for a number of shots each session, the beauticians here "zaps" as much as they believe is required for your condition. Just both my eye areas, about 15-20 times of light treatment was applied each time.
After that, my face was treated to The Skin Shape Club's very own serum and mask which felt cooling and soothing after the LHE treatment.
Just when you think you are done for the day, I was treated to a light and healthy meal at their mini lounge! I was surprised and did not expect that, yet very delighted since I always come by during my lunch time which means I expected not to have time for a proper meal.

Besides the yummy food, The Skin Shape Club also provide complimentary wifi and organises exclusive beauty and wellness workshops and talks for their customers. Talk about good service!
Post-care Treatment and Results
After first treatment, I could see my skin was more radiant, felt tighter and the redness has reduced.
Radiance with less pigmentation.
I was advised not to stay out in the sun for too long and to avoid oily/alcohol-based products for 48 hours after treatment. Also to apply moisturiser and sunblock regularly, which I strongly believe should be a beauty regime for everyone!
I had about a session per week for a period of 4 weeks and my skin did feel tighter and more radiant after each session. My dark eye circles, which started to emerge a few months back due to the late nights, were also less visible. As for my main concern of pigmentation/freckles where some have already merged into continents, they have became slightly lighter but still very much visible.
I believe as LHE treatment is not as strong as IPL or laser, it will not be able to give instant results in just 4 sessions. As advised by The Skin Shape Club, 6-12 weekly sessions is recommended for the optimal results, followed by monthly sessions for maintenance.
Last but not least, packages and prices!
Skin Shaper Facial is priced at $120 for 30 mins. New customers can enjoy 4 sessions at a trial price of $96 ($24/per session). If you have more time to spare, you can consider an upgrade to the Skin Shaper Plus Facial that comes with exfoliation to remove dead skin cells and serum-infused facial massage to boost skincare penetration and treatment results. This is priced at $160 per 1 hr session or a trial package price of $128 ($32/per session) for new customers.
For those who prefer mostly packages, they have them in peak and non-peak hours, and for unlimited sessions which will be super worth it for those who requires more frequent treatments, housewives or those working in town!
