3 Interesting Statement Accessories Brands To Look Out For This Season

For those who knows me, I love accessorising my outfit. I think accessorising brings out the confidence and individuality in a person, allows you to express your moods and emotions in an alternative way.
Say I feel moody on Mondays and don't feel like dressing up, I usually slip on a no-brainer boring dress, usually in black, and accessorise with a simple thin-chained pendant necklace. On days when I'm going for a meeting, a formal single toned outfit is preferred with a mono-coloured necklace is preferred. During girl's night out or a date, I either put on a more playful printed or textured dress and pair it with a pair of statement earrings or necklace.

"Wear the clothes, don't let the clothes wear you."

Just putting on a dress bought from an online blogshop or a popular mainstream brand makes you look like everyone else. What makes you stand out is how you accessories it.

Here are 3 contemporary brands which has a collection of statement pieces on my current inspiration list now. My observation is that fashion jewellery are moving away from the mainstream metal chains, gold and silver colours, and playing with other materials like fabric, cords, resin, wood, leather and the like to create different looks and textures.

Marni

Marni's Spring'15 Collection features many chunky pieces inspired by geometric and floral designs. Some of the materials used for the accessories include resin, leather and wood. To bring out these stunning designs, thick ribbons and cords were used to replace the boring metal chains.

In Good Company

This local brand co-founded by 4 friends in 2012 has a variety of handmade pieces which are unique yet very wearable. Both designers, Sven Tan and Kane Tan were previously from alldressedup, which explains any similarity you see in the designs of the accessories. I like how the designers are adventurous with materials and shapes and the use of ribbons and T-bar closures for most pieces which makes them so sustainable, easy to wear and great for our humid weather.

J.Crew

I love the bold daring colours that J.Crew use in their accessories. In their current collection, besides the usually gold, cords, leather and threads are also used to create new looks. J.Crew can be very experimental with clashing colours and somehow, they combined well to give a vibrant and playful outlook.

Hope you guys are as inspired as me after reading this post! Do share with me any other fashion jewellery brands which inspires and impresses you too!

xoxo,
M
